7 reasons why you should go to celebrate Christmas in Dominican Republic

The holiday season is here! And you will probably be thinking how to make this Christmas unique. If we are talking about Christmas, home is the first word we think of. But wait! A white Christmas is well and good, but nothing is better than stealing away for a week to enjoy the holidays in Dominican Republic. So, why not swapping snow for sun, sand and soft breeze?

Christmas is Navidad in Spanish. The Word comes from nacimiento (birth). In Spanish, “eve” is translated as víspera, but Dominicans also use other term: Christmas Eve is noche buena (“good night”). So let’s start dreaming how it could be like to spent your “good night” in this tropical paradise. While you let this idea take your mind, let us tell you all  the  highlights  and the curiosities of  being in this tropical Paradise during this time of the year.

 

1.      Party /relaxation balance

Family and food are great company but everything is better around the sea.  In this part of the Caribbean you will be able to get a beach escape in any moment. You can plan lots of activities outdoor with your love ones -surf and windsurf are on its pick during this season-  but you can also give yourself a lonely refreshing dip in the sea whenever you need it

2.  Everyone is relaxed with the pink noise

The overall sound make by the waves is known as pink noise and has been shown to help us fall asleep faster, lower our anxiety, stay asleep throughout the night, and get a better night's sleep overall. Better sleep and low anxiety will guarantee a perfect family time!

 

3. Less crowded  beaches

December is the perfect time to travel. As not too many people consider spending Christmas out, prices can be lower, and you won’t have to worry about the crowds.

4. Decorations every where

Dominicans are fan of Christmas decoration and you will find them all over the place. You will not have a Christmas tree… But do not worry, Dominicans have come up with “caramicos” for you, wooden versions of the Christmas tree that you are going to see all over with its glittering typical decoration. You can certainly get your own!

 

5. Music, music, music

The social glue of the DR is the music and they have their own for Christmas.  Add to your list new  anthems with the holiday aguinaldos and merengues songs that  are played nonstop and everywhere. The funniest part is that you can keep some of this sounds with you and remember the great time you spent with yours while you play it in your daily life.

6. It is warm!

Escape frigid temperatures for a few days of sun. Average temperatures in December in the Dominican Republic usually hover around the mid-80s (perfect beach weather). The skies are blue, the sun is out and the breezes are gentle. Who needs a white Christmas, when you can have a toes-in-the-sand holiday?

 

7. It is easy to get here!

Dominican Republic is just 2 hours from Miami. You’ll be far from the cold and  right on the beach in no time.
